CourseSmart App for Android, iPad and iPhone

CourseSmart has free apps for Androids, iPads, and iPods.
CourseSmart has a huge selection of eTextbooks and eResources which are digital and cost up to 60% less than hard cover or printed textbooks. The digital format allows students to take notes and highlight material; however, most are not screen or text reader accessible.  You need to request an accessible copy from their customer support page;      accessibility@coursesmart.com, or 866-588-3197.

From CourseSmart:
“Need an Accessible eTextbook or eResource:
CourseSmart is aware that electronic textbooks may present accessibility problems for students with disabilities. CourseSmart has solutions for students who need assistive technology, such as text-to-speech software, as well as a version of our reader that is accessible to screen reader technology such as JAWS and VoiceOver.
Users of text-to-speech assistive technology can usually use their software by selecting the text on the page that the user wants to present to the AT software, and pressing “Copy.”  This puts the text in a plain text window that most AT programs can interact with nicely.
CourseSmart’s accessible reader is compatible with most screen reading software, however the quality of the experience is dependent upon the actual book content. While many books work well as delivered from the publishers, CourseSmart is optimizing its best-selling titles to ensure accurate reading order, add image tags, as well as structural tags such as headings and lists. Currently, the many of CourseSmart’s best sellers are already available in this optimized format. CourseSmart will optimize other books as requested by purchasers.
CourseSmart’s standard reader is not screen reader compatible, however the accessible reader is available by request to Customer Support. For hints in using the accessible reader with screen readers, please see: http://support.coursesmart.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=8070&task=knowledge&questionID=756″
