High Speed Scanners compatible with Kurzweil 3000

Frequently, I am asked, “what scanner do you use?” for the production of digital books.  For the most part, we are a PC campus so these scanners may not be compatible for Macs.

The first two are great for personnal scanners;  not meant to be production machines, but affordable for personal use.

DR-2050C Compact Color Document Scanner   $499.

* 600dpi x 600dpi maximum resolution
 * USB Type A connector
DR-2580C Compact Color Document Scanner  $699

The following 3 scanners are production scanners. We used one scanner, a Canon DR 5080C – no longer available, for 6 years without ever having a problem – we scan and convert every textbook sold at our bookstore.  We replaced it last fall as part of a maintenance cycle as it had exceeded its life expectancy.
