Today, our TechSupport received an email from Kurzweil 3000 technology services, with information about the release of a fix for the “Read the Web” feature using Mozilla’s Firefox 3.  Alas, the fix came as an .xpi attachment so I can’t send you the link.  I checked Mozilla’s download page for add-ons and extentions and it was not there yet.

So email technology@cambiumlearning.com  and request the kesireader  fix, their reply will have the same attachment, or email me with the request and I will reply with the attachment.  cbrown@landmark.edu

New Semester’s High-speed Scanning Blog Intermission

Since Landmark College offers our students’ the availability of every required course text in Kurzweil format, the beginning of every semester finds me sequestered in my office with a fabulous Canon DR 7580 high speed scanner and a computer loaded with the Professional (Scan/Read) Version 10 for company. (The students are required to purchase a hard copy of the text from the bookstore before they are given the digital access rights.) That amounts to 50-60 books, which doesn’t sound too bad, except some of the books have more than 1200 pages, some books have text on colored paper or in colored boxes, some books have very shiny, slippery paper, and they all need to be done ASAP. Therein lies my absence from posting on the blog. I am waiting for the Kurzweil automator to finish converting a large book with 716 pages, so I thought that I would zip this off.
