About

Here at Landmark College’s Digital Text Services, I have been doing a lot of research for our students who are dependent upon using Kurzweil 3000 text to speech software and who are leaving Landmark with the read only version of Kurzweil on their laptops. There is so much free software; free digitized databases, tutorials, books, magazines, newspapers, learning objects on the web that might prove useful/helpful for our students needing accommodations for print disabilities; I was overwhelmed with organizing the amazing sites I found. Often there is digital text available but not in the Kurzweil format but require a specific screen reader; so we are researching alternatives. A Librarian co-worker suggested that I create a Blog which can be organized by topic, and from which one can receive feedback. I want this to be easily searchable and current which means this blog will be an ongoing work in progress; and since this is my first endeavor, please send any comments and/or suggestions. If you know of other similar blogs, I would love to link to them so send those suggestions as well.  Landmark College does not endorse any products reviewed and is currently a PC campus so this blog does not contain a lot of information for Mac users.
